The weather’s getting warmer, school is winding down and you’re busy applying for college scholarships. But before you toss your cap and tell your friends goodbye, try these three things before you graduate high school.
1. Thank your teachers, coaches and friends
Believe it or not, your teachers and coaches want the best for you and they’re teaching you how to be successful in college and life – even if that means final exams and grueling wind sprints. You probably won’t see most of them again for a while, so take this opportunity to thank them for their help in shaping you. There’s something unique about high school friends, so enjoy your last couple months together.
2. Stay Focused
We’ve all been there and we know how excited you are to “move on with your life”. But trust us, your future self will thank you for finishing strong in your final semester of high school. You may need that final GPA to get into medical school or a masters program, so don’t give up just yet.
3. Get a Job
Your parents have been telling you this since you were 14, but you really do need a job this summer. If you’re not planning to go to college, start looking for a long-term career, but be willing to start with a less-than-desirable position. And if you are going to college, you’ll need to pay your tuition in the Fall, so start planning now. The more you can pay for college now, the less you’ll have to take out in student loans.
This is an exciting time of your life – so enjoy it!
