Easy Halloween Desserts for Kids

Halloween is the perfect excuse to have a little extra fun with dessert. And when kids are involved, the sillier and spookier, the better!

The best part is that Halloween treats don’t have to be complicated. With a few simple ingredients and a little creativity, you can turn everyday desserts into something perfect for your Halloween celebration. Here are a few easy ideas the kids can help make, too!

5 Easy Halloween Desserts for Kids

Monster Brownies

Turn ordinary brownies into silly little monsters with colorful frosting, sprinkles, and candy eyes. Cut your brownies into squares, let the kids decorate their own, and see what kinds of creatures they come up with.

There are no decorating rules here. Three eyes? Perfect. Green frosting and crooked teeth? Even better!

Ghost Strawberries

Chocolate-covered strawberries get a spooky makeover with white chocolate.

Dip fresh strawberries into melted white chocolate and add mini chocolate chips for the eyes and mouth. They don’t have to look perfect. In fact, we think the slightly wonky ghosts have the most personality!

Cake Roll Dirt Cups

Give classic dirt cups an extra-sweet twist with a Dutch Apron® Bakery Cake Roll!

Start by cutting a cake roll into small bite-sized pieces and adding them to the bottom of a clear cup. Layer with chocolate pudding, then top everything with crushed chocolate sandwich cookies to create the “dirt.”

Now comes the fun part! Let the kids decorate their cups with gummy worms, candy pumpkins, spooky sprinkles, or a cookie decorated to look like a tiny tombstone.

You can even add another layer of cake roll pieces in the middle for an extra surprise. It’s part dirt cup, part cake roll, and completely Halloween-ready.

Spiderweb Cupcakes

Start with homemade or store-bought cupcakes and add a simple spiderweb design on top. Frost each cupcake, then pipe circles of a contrasting frosting or melted chocolate on top. Drag a toothpick from the center toward the outside to create the web.

Add a candy spider on top to finish the look!

Mummy Cake Roll Slices

Here’s another fun way to give a Dutch Apron® Bakery Cake Roll a Halloween twist!

Cut your favorite cake roll into individual slices and drizzle each one with melted white chocolate to create mummy “wrappings.” Add two candy eyes, let the chocolate set, and you have an easy Halloween dessert that looks like you spent way more time on it than you actually did.

Let the Kids Get Creative

Halloween desserts are supposed to be fun, so don’t worry about making everything picture-perfect. Put out frosting, sprinkles, candy eyes, chocolate chips, and a few other favorite toppings, then let the kids take over.

You might end up with some very unusual monsters, but that’s half the fun!

Whether you’re planning a Halloween party, looking for an after-school activity, or just want to make October a little sweeter, these easy treats are a fun way to make some spooky memories together.
