S’mores – More Than a Campfire Treat

Take your favorite campfire dessert to a whole new level with our S’mores Cake Roll. It combines all the classic s’more ingredients, from melted chocolate to toasted marshmallows, to create a decadent treat that’s perfect for any summer celebration. The best part? There’s no campfire required.

Toast a S’mores Cake Roll for Yourself

Ingredients:
  • Dutch Apron® Bakery Chocolate Crème Cake Roll
  • Chocolate frosting
  • 1 container hot fudge
  • 2 large marshmallows
  • 2 graham crackers
  • 3 chocolate biscuit sticks
  • 2 toothpicks
Instructions:
  1. Take your cake roll and place it on a serving platter.
  2. Cover the entire cake roll with a thin layer of frosting, leaving the swirl at both ends exposed.
  3. Prepare the hot fudge according to the package directions.
  4. Carefully, drizzle the hot fudge over the top of the cake roll, letting it drip down both sides.
  5. Take 2 large marshmallows and toast them. You can use your stove top or a kitchen torch if you have one.

REMINDER: Always be extremely careful when working with an open flame.

  1. Once they have cooled, place one toothpick partially in the bottom of both marshmallows. Use the remaining portion of the toothpick to stick the marshmallows into the top of the cake roll.
  2. Just behind each of the marshmallows, stick a single graham cracker into the cake roll. Be sure to place them at an angle, so you have some space between the crackers.
  3. Lastly, in the space between the graham crackers, insert three chocolate biscuit sticks into the cake roll.

Homemade Pistachio Cream Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 1/4 c. raw, unsalted pistachios, shelled
  • 3 tbsp. unsalted butter
  • 3/4 c. whole milk or cream, divided
  • 4 oz. high-quality white chocolate, chopped
  • 2 tbsp. powdered sugar
  • 1/4 tsp. kosher salt
Instructions
  1. Bring a pot of water to a boil. Add pistachios and boil for 3 minutes. Drain and transfer to a clean kitchen towel.
  2. Rub pistachios in the towel to remove the skins. Discard the skins and let the pistachios dry completely.
  3. Melt butter with 1/4 c. milk until hot. Add white chocolate and stir until fully melted.
  4. Add pistachios to a blender with powdered sugar and salt. Pour in the melted chocolate mixture.
  5. Blend until a paste forms. Slowly add remaining milk, a few tablespoons at a time, until smooth and creamy.
  6. Blend on high for 30-60 seconds, scraping sides as needed.
  7. Refrigerate in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks.

Ingredients
  • 1 c. heavy whipping cream
  • 3 tbsp. sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
Instructions
  1. Whip heavy cream, sugar, and vanilla with a hand mixer or stand mixer on medium speed until soft peaks form, about 3-4 minutes.
