Tiramisu Brownies are the ultimate mashup of two classic desserts: rich, fudgy brownies and creamy chocolate tiramisu. Layers of Chocolate Crème Cake Roll are dipped in coffee and layered on a base of brownies then topped with a fluffy mascarpone cream and a dusting of cocoa powder. They’re indulgent, impressive, and deceptively easy to make!
When it comes to dessert, I’ve always believed you shouldn’t have to choose between your favorites, and that’s exactly the philosophy that led to this recipe for Tiramisu Brownies. Rich, fudgy brownie meets creamy chocolate tiramisu in one decadent bite. Honestly, it’s the best of both worlds.
I’ve loved tiramisu ever since I first had it at a little Italian restaurant with my family but making it from scratch can feel kind of intimidating (and, let’s be real, sometimes I don’t have that kind of time). That’s why I’m so in love with this easy, shortcut version of the classic tiramisu recipe. Using a Dutch Apron® Bakery Chocolate Crème Cake Roll as part of the layers gives this dessert an extra boost of flavor while keeping everything really simple to assemble.
Between the melt-in-your-mouth brownie base, the coffee-infused cake slices, and the luscious mascarpone cream on top, this recipe feels really special but doesn’t demand that you spend hours in the kitchen to get it. And I highly recommend you keep the recipe close by because anywhere you bring these, you’ll have people begging you to share it!

Tips for Making Tiramisu Brownies
- Take care not to oversoak the cake roll slices in the coffee. Just a quick dip is all you need! Also, make sure your coffee is cooled before dipping. This will prevent the cake slices from breaking apart.
- When making a mascarpone filling, always use chilled mascarpone cheese straight from the refrigerator.
- If you can make your Tiramisu Brownies in advance, we recommend chilling them overnight. The longer chill time yields the best texture and flavor.

Instructions
Prepare the Cake Roll
- Allow the cake roll to thaw for about 30 minutes. Then, unroll and remove the filling.
- Slice the cake roll into 1” wide strips. Put aside.
Make the Brownie Batter
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth and glossy.
- Add eggs and vanilla extract then beat for 2-3 minutes until the mixture becomes thick and lighter in color.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually, add the dry ingredients into the wet mixture and fold until just combined.
- Stir in the chocolate chips.
Assemble & Bake the Brownie Base
- Pour and spread 3/4 of the brownie batter into a greased 8×8” baking pan with parchment paper. Make sure to spread it evenly.
- Briefly dip each Chocolate Crème Cake Roll slice into the cooled coffee. Do not soak. Then, layer them on top of the brownie batter.

Make the Mascarpone Cream
- In a large bowl, beat the chilled mascarpone cheese, heavy cream, and powdered sugar until stiff peaks form.
- Once the brownies are fully cooled, spread the mascarpone cream evenly over the top.
Chill & Serve
- Cover and refrigerate the Tiramisu Brownies for at least 2-4 hours or overnight to let the layers set.
